Pricemeter.pk, Remounts, Diamond Paints win in Pakistan Polo Cup

LAHORE: Pricemeter.pk, Remounts and Diamond Paints/FG Polo carved out contrasting victories in the Happy Cow Polo for Peace II for Pakistan Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Wednesday.

In a thrilling encounter, Pricemeter.pk edged out Samba Bank 4- 3 1/5, thanks to a leading role by Mannuel Carranza who struck three goals, while the remaining one came from Sufi Muhammad Haroon.

For the losing side, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Edward Banner Eve banged in two goals while Muhammad Turab Rizvi chipped in with one

goal.

Remounts, however, locked a comprehensive 10- 3 1/5 victory against Colony for which all credit went to Kian Hall and Imran Shahid, who fired goals each. Jamie Le Hardy added two goals.

For the losing side, which had a half goal handicap advantage, James Fewster, Mian Hussain Iftikhar, and Naveed Sheikh scored one goal each.

Four-goal Mir Huzaifa Ahmed inspired Diamond Paints/FG Polo to overpower D Poloy 8-1.

Mian Abbas Mukhtar scored two and Tom Brodie and Saqib Khan Khakwani slammed in one goal apiece.

The consolation goal for D Polo received from Lt. Col. Omer Minhas.

On Thursday, the AOS team will play Guard Rice/Platinum Homes.—Sports Reporter


KHA to honour District East hockey team

KARACHI: A reception will be held at the KHA Sports Complex on Thursday (today) at 6:00pm in honour of the District East hockey team for winning the Inter-District Karachi Hockey Championship. Sindh Sports Department Secretary Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Former Pakistan hockey Captain Olympian Hanif Khan and all KHA Board members will attend the reception while Olympian Samiullah Khan will be the special guests.

Also present will be KHA Patron-in-chief Arifullah Husseni, Minister and GM Sindh Women’s Hockey Syed Shehla Raza, KHA President Dr Syed Junaid Ali Shah, Municipal Commissioner Karachi Syed Salahuddin, DC East Mohammad Ali Shah, Secretary Revenue Samiuddin Siddiqui.—Agencies


Aaj News beat SJAS Blues in T20 Cup

KARACHI: In the third match of the Sindh Sports Board-Sports Journalists Association of Sindh Inter-media T20 cup, Aaj News beat SJAS-blues by four wickets.

At the Eastern star cricket ground, SJAS Blues while batting first, scored 107 all-out in 18.2 overs. Anis-ur-Rehman was the top scorer with a run-a-ball 35 with five boundaries. Mansoor Ali Baig with 13 was the other notable contributor.

Sabahat Ali bagged three wickets in his four overs for 19 runs.

In reply Aaj News overhauled the target in just 14.1 overs for the loss of six wickets. Waseem Qaseem with 37 runs was the top scorer.

Sabahat Ali was declared Man of the match for his fine bowling performance.

Women’s triangular tie washed out

RAWALPINDI: For the second time in three days, the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship saw no action as the scheduled fixture between PCB Dynamites and PCB Challengers was abandoned without a ball bowled due to rain at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Monday’s game between the Challengers and PCB Blasters was also washed out.

The next match — the fourth in the tournament — will be played between the Dynamites and the Blasters on Thursday at the same venue.
