HYDERABAD, Jan 20: Hundreds of people of Latifabad including women councillors took out a huge procession to express solidarity with the armed forces.
The rally started from outside the office of the Latifabad tehsil Nazim, Abdul Jabbar Khan, and terminated at the Hyderabad press club here on Sunday after marching on the roads of Latifabad, Hussainabad, Thandi Sarak, Haider Chowk and Risala Road.
District Hyderabad Nazim Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, Naib Nazim Nawab Rashid Ali Khan, Latifabad Nazim Abdul Jabbar Khan, and his deputy Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro led the rally on a truck.
Speaking at the end of the rally, Dr Rafiquzzaman said that the people might be supporters of different political parties but as far as the defence of the country was concerned, they were united.
He said that the people, regardless of caste, colour, religion and creed, would fight side by side with their valiant armed forces if war was imposed on the country.
Taking advantage of the huge gathering, the district Nazim called upon the people to take full benefit of the three-day anti polio campaign which would begin on Tuesday.
Addressing the protesters from Badin who were observing hunger strike against the kidnapping of former MRD convener, Hussain Bukhsh Narejo, and a poet, Manthar Solangi, from Naudero, Dr Rafiquzzaman assured them that he would do everything possible for their recovery.
Speaking on the occasion, Nawab Rashid Ali Khan said that the people would spare no sacrifice for the defence of the country. Abdul Jabbar Khan and Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro also spoke at the rally.
