NAROWAL:The funeral prayers for former federal minister Anwar Aziz Chaudhry were offered at his outhouse in village Badwal Mor, Shakargarh tehsil, after which he was buried there on Monday.

The prayers were led by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Qasim Khan and attended by PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal, MNA Armaghan Sobhani, MPAs Abid Raza, Maulvi Ghiasuddin, Rana Manan Khan and Bilal Akbar as well as lawyers, journalists, public representatives and a large number of locals.

People offered condolences to PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz over the death of his father. Foolproof security arrangements were made on the occasion and a heavy contingent of police deployed.

Born in 1931, Anwar Aziz Chaudhry had also participated in the Pakistan Movement and represented the country as a swimmer in the 1948 Summer Olympics.

He was also well-versed in public service, education and history.
