LAHORE: With 10 deaths, the coronavirus infected 658 more people during the last 24 hours in Punjab, taking the total positive cases to 112,284 across the province.

The new number of confirmed cases was the highest one reported in Punjab in a day during the second wave of the virus. Of them, 304 were reported from Lahore, the another record number of positive cases in the provincial capital during the second spike.

Multan and Rawalpindi were the other cities which reported 68 and 61 new cases, respectively, during the last 24 hours.

Others were reported from Kasur, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, Sialkot, Sargodha, Jhelum, Rajanpur, Jhang, Khanewal, Lodhran, Faisalabad, Khushab, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Gujrat, Nankana, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and Sahiwal.

According to the official figures released by the health authorities on Thursday, the death toll due to the virus has reached 2,519 while the teams have performed total 803,216 Covid-19 tests in Punjab so far.
