High Commissioner of Malaysia Ikram bin Muhammad Ibrahim paid a visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and met members of the executive committee and officials, including RCCI President Mohammad Nasir Mirza and senior vice president Osman Ashraf and Shahraiz A. Malik.

The high commissioner lauded the chamber’s efforts in promoting trade activities in the region and said: “There is a need to intensify efforts to improve two-way trade between Pakistan and Malaysia that would bring far better results for both economies.”

He said that both countries had the potential to enhance cooperation in many fields including automobiles, construction, pharmaceuticals, halal food, tourism, telecommunication and renewable energy.

RCCI President Mohammad Nasir Mirza said: “Pak-Malaysia are enjoying cordial relations and both countries should focus on new products to improve two-way trade. The exchange of trade delegations is needed to boost bilateral trade ties and volume. However, as the coronavirus has hit economies all over the world we should not stop here and must increase virtual platforms for improved networking and e-commerce to support businesses.”

High Commissioner Ibrahim also appreciated RCCI for its recent tree plantation drive and planted a sapling at the chamber’s premises to mark RCCI Tree Plantation Drive 2020.
