DERA MURAD JAMALI: Hundreds of growers from Nasirabad division protested against the mismanagement, corruption and lack of water in the Pat Feeder Canal for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

A big procession led by Sardarzada Baba Ghulam Rasool, a tribal elder and chairman of the Save Pat Feeder Canal Movement, was taken out in Dera Murad Jamali, and protesters marched on various roads including the National Highway.

The growers staged a sit-in in front of the press club, chanted slogans against ‘corrupt elements’ and urged the authorities to look into the matter.

They said there was shortage of water in the canal. At present, there is 300,000 cusecs water in the canal, which has a capacity of 700,000 cusecs.
