KARACHI: The staff of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) on Wednesday took out rallies in Karachi and other cities of Sindh against the recent National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raid targeting the health facility.
The rallies were staged in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Tando Mohammad Khan, Sehwan, Nawabshah, Mithi, Khairpur, Sukkur and other cities to condemn the raid.
The protesters, including doctors, nurses and paramedics, were carrying placards inscribed with different slogans calling for stopping “harassment” of NICVD administration, ensuring justice for employees, and stopping “unjustified” raids on health institutions.
A big rally was organized in NICVD Karachi where doctors, paramedics, nurses and administrative staff protested against the NAB raid and expressed solidarity with NICVD administration. The protesters said “unjustified” raids of NAB had created uncertainty among doctors and others across the province.
The OPD service at NICVD partially remained disturbed due to protest of medical staff.
