KHYBER: Authorities have directed all the owners of rented buildings and their tenants in Khyber tribal district to register themselves with local police within a week under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Restriction of Rented Buildings Act, 2014.

DPO Mohammad Iqbal told Dawn that tenant information forms (TIF) were available in all the police stations in three subdivisions of Jamrud, Bara and Landi Kotal which the owners of rented houses and tenants were required to obtain and fill within one week.

He said all the laws enforced in other parts of the province were automatically extended to the tribal districts and it was obligatory on every property owner and his or her tenants to furnish their personal information required in the TIF for police verification.

“We give one week time to all the property owners and tenants to register themselves with their nearest police station to avoid any action,” said the DPO.

He said that police would launch a search operation and take to task those who failed to register themselves under the Act.
