KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in what was described as an ‘encounter’ in Korangi on Wednesday.

Area SHO Shahzada Saleem said that a man, Imran, was travelling in a car along with his family when armed motorcycle riders intercepted it in near Kabadi Ground in Korangi’s Sector-11. They snatched cash, gold jewellery and other valuables from the family and were about to flee when a police mobile van arrived and the family ran towards it to seek their help. In the meantime, the suspects resorted to firing and tried to flee. The police returned the fire killing one of the suspects and wounding the other.

The police recovered a 30-bore pistol with four rounds, snatched cash and mobile phone, watches and purse from the crime scene. The wounded suspect was being interrogated.
