LAHORE: Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat on Tuesday directed beefing up security in the province after display of blasphemous sketches in France and following the Quetta and Peshawar blasts.

He was presiding over a meeting on law and order at the Civil Secretariat here with Additional Chief Secretary Home, IG Punjab, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG CTD and other officers present.

Basharat also directed the law-enforcement agencies to remain vigilant. He said foolproof security arrangements should be made in public places, government offices, places of worship and educational institutions.

Basharat expressed concern that anti-Pakistan forces wanted to damage religious harmony in Pakistan. “At this time, the nation needs to be united and together we may crush the enemy’s ambitions,” he said. He appealed to the followers of all religions and faiths to beware of the internal elements that were being used as tools of the enemy.
