Course correction

Published October 26, 2020

APROPOS the article ‘Is a course correction needed?’ (Oct 12), the writer has rightly recommended to the prime minister a resetting of the nation’s compass for the remaining tenure.

Some or all of these recommendations are quite heavy-weight, indeed, such as the need to reframe its purpose in office, reshuffle its team in the battleground province of Punjab, adopt a schematic approach to governance, evolve business-friendly policies, show courtesy towards dissent in the media, and to begin to engage with political forces.

For a new-party-on-the-block that was eyeing power since 2014 and having already spent a good 27 months in power without something tangible to show, I think it is not asking for too much really if some of the aforesaid suggestions were to be adopted.
