ISLAMABAD, Sep 27: Punjab and Wapda advanced to the final of the inaugural National women’s soccer championship at the Jinnah Stadium on Tuesday with comfortable semifinal victories.
Shakia Nazir brace gave Punjab a 2-1 win against Sindh in the first pre-final while Misbah Siddiqui and Khalida Noor scored two goals apiece in Wapda’s crushing 4-0 victory over Balochistan.
Punjab went into the lead in the very first minute through Shakia’s fine effort but Sindh neutralised that advantage with a 30th minute strike from Erum Kazmi.
It was then left to Shakia to seal the fate of Sindh as she scored the match winner with a spectacular goal.
Balochistan were just no match for Wapda, who were clearly strong in attack. Misbah’s brace set the pace before Khalida fired in two more to wrap it all up and become the championship’s leading scorer with six goals.
The final is scheduled for Thursday.
