LAHORE: PML-N leader and former railways minister Saad Rafique says the opposition suffered for three years and tried to make reconciliation (with the powers that be) but in vain and now ‘war’ has begun and let’s see where it settles.

“We have suffered for three years. Shahbaz Sharif, who is a man of reconciliation, is sent to jail. Now the war has eventually begun and let’s see where it settles,” he said while talking to reporters here on Tuesday.

Rafique said whenever the opposition parties formed an alliance, it had consequences.

“People are suffering immensely because of unprecedented inflation and Imran Khan is only concerned about political victimisation,” he lamented.

The PML-N leader further said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s accountability mantra could not sell any more.

“To see its popularity I ask the PTI to come in public and hold a single rally like that of PDM,” he said.

PML-N information secretary Marriyum Auranzeb said the Imran Khan government got panicked after Gujranwala rally as it was engaging ‘criminals’ to file ‘fake’ FIRs against its leaders and workers.

To a question as to why former prime minister Nawaz Sharif did not address the Karachi public meeting, she said: “Let Imran Khan digest his first speech (in Gujranwala) then he will think of making another one.”

PML-N Punjab information secretary Azma Bokhari chided Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for targeting the opposition on ‘selective’ accountability. “Buzdar is wanted in illegal liquor, wheat and sugar scams but he is passing the buck to senior bureaucrats. His government is being run from Banigala,” she said and advised him to try to improve governance to provide relief to the people of Punjab.
