KHYBER: Unidentified gunmen killed a police constable in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber tribal district on Tuesday.

Officials said Maamor Khan, a member of the Jamrud SHO’s mobile squad, was on way home when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened firing, killing him on the spot.

The assailants managed to escape. The body of the deceased was shifted to Jamrud Civil Hospital for postmortem.

The police registered a case against unknown assailants and started investigations. They said the incident seemed to be a targeted killing.

Meanwhile, a vendor sustained critical injuries due to a gas cylinder blast in Jamrud Bazaar.

The injured was identified as Ihsan, a resident of Swat. He was shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.
