RAWALPINDI: A World Health Organisation (WHO) team along with health department officials visited the Islamabad International Airport (IIA) on Tuesday and expressed satisfaction with the preventive measures taken against the spread of Covid-19, airport authorities said.

The WHO team comprised Dr Jassica and Dr Aliya. The team was accompanied by Dr Ijaz and Dr Junaid Gul from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Dr Sara and Dr Aamir from the health department.

The WHO team visited the international arrival/boarding bridges, including corridor and immigration counters at the airport. Later, the team met Airport Manager Adnan Khan and expressed satisfaction over the preventive measures against Covid-19.

Earlier, the Aviation Division had constituted a seven-member committee to ensure implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at each airport.

The Aviation Division had directed the officials concerned to ensure compliance of SOPs at each airport and take administrative action against those not ensuring SOPs compliance.
