MOHMAND: Speakers at a declamation contest here on Monday asked students to compete with each other in the field of education and healthy activities.

The students of 15 schools took part in the speech competition arranged by Takal Welfare Organisation in collaboration with sports and culture department in Ghalanai Jirga Hall.

Noorullah Khan got first position, Mohammad Shahid Amin grabbed second position and Altaf Khan stood third in the competition.

The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Abdul Wahab Khalil, a large number of teachers and students.

The event was presided over by Saeed Akhtar, the district manager of sports and culture, while Dr Shahab Aziz Arman was chief guest on the occasion.

“Student of the Year” award was won by Noorullah of New Pakistan Model School. Mohammad Shahid Amin of Government High School Nahaqi got second position and Altaf Khan Ghazibeg stood third.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shehab Aziz Arman and senior teacher Alam Khan said that such events helped in promotion of education in the region.

Rehmat Shah, president of Takal Welfare Organisation, said that annual speech competitions were meant to highlight the importance of education. He said that such activities instilled a spirit of healthy competition among students.

VISIT: Additional Secretary Information Ahmedzeb paid a visit to the office of Pakhtunkhwa Radio Mohmand here on Monday.

He was accompanied by Pakhtunkhwa Radio Network Director Ansar Khilji, Assistant Commissioner Hamid Iqbal and Deputy Director Saleem.

Murad Khan, the station manager, briefed the visiting officials and told them that Pakhtunkhwa Radio Mohmand would soon start broadcasting programmes.

Engineer Qasim Akhtar of Pakhtunkhwa Radio Mohmand also briefed the visiting officials on technical issues.

The visiting officials thanked the local administration and security officials for their performance and administrative cooperation.
