NORTH WAZIRISTAN/BAJAUR: Three persons, including a schoolteacher and a tribal elder, were gunned down in different areas in North Waziristan and Bajaur on Sunday, police said.
A schoolteacher identified as Mujeeb was shot dead in Saidabad area of Datakhel tehsil of North Waziristan. He was on way home from market when gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at him. The attackers managed to escape.
Masked men opened fire at Subedar retired Malik Raees Khan in Khaisoor area near Mirali Town. Sources said Malik Raees was going to Khushali Zerenai area from Mirali Bazaar when gunmen ambushed his vehicle. He was dragged out of the vehicle and shot dead. Malik Raees was uncle of Eid Rehman Wazir, who is an activist of Pakhtun Tahafuz Movement.
Meanwhile, unidentified assailants shot dead a man, 80, in his native Damadola area of Mamand tehsil of Bajaur.
Police said Marjan Khan was on way home when he was attacked near the Inayat Kallay Bazaar.
They said the elderly man died while being shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
A police official said FIR had been registered against unidentified assailants.
Meanwhile, four people were wounded when rival groups traded fire in Falang area of Khar teshil of Bajaur over a land dispute.
Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the victims to the district headquarters hospital.
