CHRISTCHURCH, Jan 19: Pakistan coach Haroon Rasheed said Saturday he wants that boys should quickly acclimatize themselves in New Zealand right from the first game in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
“It was important that they should acclimatised themselves in the local condition from the start which will be vital factor in the event” he told APP.
He said though Pakistan defeated strong Zimbabwe in the warmup game but their defeat against home Kiwi side by 29 runs was little disappointing.
Haroon said Pakistan was bit lucky that they were able to play both their practice game. However he said now settling in soft ground condition was very important.
He said Muhammad made 81 and Amin-ur-Rehman an unbeaten 74 in their team’s victory against Zimbabwe.
He said Karachi lad off-spinner Irfanuddin took four wickets for 42 and Salman Butt made a 53 and Arsalan Khan cracked 38 not out in defeat against New Zealand.
Haroon said there was still vast room for improvement and expressed the hope that boys improve their show.
He said they will not take the match against Papua New Guinea lightly. “We have told our boys to go all out in their opening to set the tempo” he remarked.
Pakistan coach said that currently team was free of injuries but added soft condition of the ground may cause trouble for them. “We are telling the boys how to adjust in these conditions” he maintained.
He said team have potential to reach the semifinal but they must deliver in the ground what ever capabilities they posses. He said because of the rains team did their training sessions and work indoor in Lincoln.—APP
