SWABI: District police officer Imran Shahid said on Tuesday that the anti-terrorism court, Mardan, had given death sentence to Muneeb Khan of Zaida village in the murder case of SHO Mohammad Asghar Khan and leaving an ASI and constable injured.
Briefing mediapersons, he said that on August 16, 2016, then SHO Asghar Khan was heading a search operation in Zaida region when Muneeb Khan, a proclaimed offender, opened fire on the police party to avoid arrest.
As a result, SHO Asghar, ASI Naeem Khan, and constable Murtaza were injured. The SHO later succumbed to his injuries. Muneeb was later arrested and produced in the ATC, Mardan.
The court after hearing the case handed down death sentence to the accused in the killing case of SHO and life imprisonment for injuring of the two policemen.
