
KARACHI: The third City Marathon will be staged in the metropolis on Jan 24 next year and it will be ensured that it becomes an international level event so that the world could also see that we are a peace loving, sporting nation.
This was stated by Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani during a reception held in his honour on Sunday evening jointly by PSWA, Shamsi Academy, KMC and Sindh Olympics Association. He was also presented with ‘Quaid-e-Azam Pride of Performance’ award by the sports federations at the reception for his tremendous contribution and promotion of sports.
Shallwani said that the third city marathon will once again prove that Karachi and the Karachiites have an identity of their own and are sports loving, positive thinking people.

He further announced on the occasion to fully restore the KMC cricket team and added that he will personally see to it that KMC participates in all the sports events and activities in the city on a regular basis.
“I strongly believe that sports can unite people like no other force and I will ensure that all the major grounds, parks and play courts in the city are renovated and available to public,” he said.
The Administrator Karachi also added that the uplift work of the KMC Sports Complex is currently underway and its swimming pool and the tennis arena will be fully functional by Dec 25.
