LAHORE: A man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the temple a few hours after killing his wife following a quarrel over domestic issues in Gulshan-i-Ravi area here on Sunday.

According to police initial inquiries show, Kafeel Babar, a resident of Mohallah Gulfishan Colony, Multan Road, first shot his wife Shakeela dead around 4am and later ended his own life around 8:30am.

Iqbal Town Division Superintendent of Police (SP) said Shakeela (30) was second wife of 50-year-old Babar. The couple, he said, had a strained relationship for the last couple of months because of domestic issues.

The SP said the police was informed on 15 emergency helpline about a woman shot dead by an unidentified man, who fled away.

Initially, he said, the police took it as a case of murder during a robbery, but the picture got clear after Kafeel’s suicide a few hours later.

He said during investigation, the relatives of both Kafeel and Shakeela told the police that the couple had a scuffle over some family issues late on Saturday.

The bodies have been shifted to the city morgue for autopsy after completing legal formalities, he said.
