Naming projects

Published September 21, 2020

A PERSON gets confused upon hearing the names of educational institutions, flyovers, roads, parks and projects named after the parents and children of leaders belonging to a ruling party.

It is an irony that those who have not rendered any service or contributed anything to the country in any capacity are being rewarded by naming important institutions after them. There must be some justification and mechanism for the naming of projects meant for the people.

This anomaly makes our country a laughing stock and an outsider would get the impression that Pakistan is the personal property of a few powerful politicians and rulers who can name renowned institutions after whomsoever they please.

The situation is pathetic particularly in Sindh. Universities, medical and cadet colleges are being named after those who have not served this province in any capacity. This practice is regrettable and must be discouraged. Will someone please take notice?
