ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday called for immediate release of Sindh’s financial share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and asked the federal government to announce special package for flood-affected areas of the province.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, PPP secretary general Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that Sindh was suffering from floods and for rehabilitation of the affected people, there was dire need of funds.

“Imran Khan is the prime minister of all federating units and he should immediately announce financial package for the flood-affected people of Sindh,” he said.

He said the federal government should fulfil its responsibility to help millions of people affected by floods and rains in Sindh, adding that the federal government was neglecting its constitutional responsibilities.

He said the federal government should compensate the agricultural losses suffered by the people of Sindh.

Mr Bukhari said the PTI government was the most incompetent one in the country’s history as people were facing inflation tsunami, but the government was busy in political point scoring and victimisation.

Referring to the sugar scam, he said the government had formed a commission to probe the scandal, but it did nothing on the report of the commission as all culprits nominated in the sugar, wheat and petrol scams were still part of the government and nobody dare to challenge their wrongdoings.

Talking about the motorway rape incident and change of Punjab police command, the PPP leader said the PTI had failed to come up to the expectations of the people of Punjab and was busy in political interference in institutions.

Meanwhile, PPP central deputy information secretary Palwasha Khan said the PTI-led Punjab government had failed to arrest the culprits involved in the motorway rape incident which had exposed the writ of the government in the province.

She said the people were now afraid of travelling on the motorway after the incident.

“After the incident, Mr Murad Saeed, the Minister for Communications, is in hiding as it was the duty of his ministry to make the motorway safe and secure for the people travelling on it,” she added.
