LAHORE: Father of Pakistan bowling coach and fast bowling legend Waqar Younus died here on Saturday at a local hospital.

The deceased, Mohammad Younus, was admitted to the intensive care unit of a local hospital in a critical condition the other day.

Waqar, who left for Australia directly after the end of Pakistan’s tour of England on Sept 2, had been in hotel-quarantine in Sydney for the last nine days. However, he has been allowed to go to Pakistan from the quarantine centre, where after five days he could be allowed to go to his home in Sydney. So he is coming back without seeing his family.

Waqar’s wife in Sydney also confirmed the news of the death of Waqar’s father and said it was indeed tough time for the entire family due to Covid-19 pandemic. Waqar is scheduled to reach Lahore on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has condoled the sad demise of Waqar’s father.
