2 robbers, one pickpocket arrested

KARACHI, Jan 19: The TPX police arrested a pickpocket near the ICI police picket on Saturday.

A police official said three pickpockets were travelling in a passenger coach, which ran from Merewether Tower to Mohajir Camp. As passengers raised alarm, the police stopped the coach. The three pickpockets tried to flee. The police arrested Ejaz Aleem. However, his two accomplices, Shahid and Ameer Husain, ran away. The police were raiding different places to arrest them. The police said that the suspects had been involved in pickpocketry for the past six months in district South.

BANDITS HELD: The police arrested two alleged bandits and recovered looted goods and weapons from their possession in Darakhshan, Clifton, on Saturday.

Ghulamus Saqlain, spokesman for the police, said the Darakhshan police, during snap checking, intercepted a car. Their occupants were frisked and the search of the car led to the recovery of gold jewellery. The police took them into custody. During interrogation, the suspects, Imdad Ali and Haji Momin, told the police that they had committed a number of robberies. On their lead, the police also recovered one Kalashnikov, one TT pistol, one SMG rifle, one repeater gun, one dagger, one army epaulette, one car tape recorder, foreign currency, wrist-watches and other valuables.
