TAXILA: The prime minister has approved the provision of Sui gas to 25 villages in three tehsils in Attock district, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Khan said on Sunday.

He told the media that these projects will be completed with a special allocation of Rs1.8 billion, through which Sui Gas will be provided in NA-56, which includes Jand, Pindigheb and Fatehjang.

He said the project will be completed in four phases in the current fiscal year. Areas within five kilometres of Sui gas fields will be provided gas as a top priority under the approved policy.

Mr Aslam said ongoing gas supply projects in Attock district including the provision of gas to Pind Mehri, Dhoke Gulan in Hassanabdal, Dhoke Imran and Bolianwal are expected to be completed in the next two months.

He added that 4,700 gas connections and installation of metres in Hazro, as well as 1,900 connections in Hassanabdal tehsil, will be carried out on a priority basis.

He said more than 30 water filtration plants are being installed in Attock, Hassanabdal and Hazro to ensure that the people of all these tehsils are provided clean drinking water.

“This will also control waterborne diseases,” he said.
