SWAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allotted 200 kanals of land for setting up a women campus of the University of Swat here.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, a notificationregarding allotment of the land for the women campus had been handed over to Mahboob ur Rehman, registrar of the university, and director Shangla campus Dr Shahid Ali.

According to the notification, the land had been allotted in Aboha area of Barikot tehsil, for which the federal government had allocated Rs893 million.

“To educate women of the area a makeshift building has already been operated for the women campus,” the statement quoting the vice-chancellor said.

He said a permanent building of the women campus would enable the students to have quality education. “It is a revolutionary step of the provincial government to promote women education in the region which will provide cheaper facilities of higher education to the students,” the vice-chancellor said.
