KARACHI, Sept 21: Police escort of SSP Investigation on Wednesday shot dead a bandit and arrested his two accomplices who had deprived occupant of a car of cash and valuables in Gulberg.

Police said that three suspects on a motorcycle intercepted Javed Iqbal, who was passing through Gulberg area in his car. As Javed resisted, the suspect hit him with a pistol butt.

SSP Investigation Zone-III Mir Zubair Mehmood, who was heading to his office, spotted the suspects who were fleeing after committing a hold-up. The escort chased the suspects who opened fire.

Police returned the fire killing one of the suspects and wounding his accomplices near Islamic Research Centre, Aisha Manzil. The suspect killed in the encounter was identified as Abid while other two were identified as Ashiq and Shahid.

Police recovered two pistols, six cell phones and cash from their possession.

In the meantime, Javed Iqbal was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

BODY FOUND: The body of a seven-year-old boy was recovered from PECHS on Wednesday.

Police said that the body of Saleem was found from a street in Block-6. According to the initial findings, the boy suffered injury inflicted by a blunt weapon.

The boy was residing in the shanty locality of Sindh Muslim Housing Society.

According to his family, the boy had gone to his uncle house, but did not return. On Wednesday evening, his body was recovered from the PECHS. The body was shifted to the JPMC for postmortem examination.

Police suspected that the boy might have been sexually assaulted.

MISSING: A young banker has been missing since Tuesday morning.

Police said that Hamid Omar, 28, residing alone in Clifton Block-8, left his home on Tuesday morning for United Bank Limited, but did not turn up. As he had been living alone in the city, his colleague Aftab lodged a report at Clifton police station on Wednesday.

Police believed that the banker might have been kidnapped. However, an official of the CPLC said that ransom call had not been received so far.
