LAHORE: Classic contender Marmaris outpaced her 15 rivals to win the feature event at the Racecourse here on Sunday.
The 3-1 chance three-year-old filly made all the running in the 1,000 metres sprinting distance contest under jockey Deenar Mirwani to register a convincing victory by a big margin.
Trained by Mohammad Afzal this was the filly’s second successive win in a week as she beat bay horse Salam-e-Dera to second position with favourite filly Warrior’s Charge third in a dismal show after her maiden success last Sunday.
The last race of the day was delayed by over an hour as the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards changed the rider of one runner and issued warnings to a couple of others to make them perform on merit after suspecting foul [lay.
Only one favourite obliged the punters in a small card of five races.
The next race meeting has been brought forward to Thursday due to Ashura, the LRC announced.
