KARACHI: The Sports Medicine Association of Pakistan (SMAP) received a major breakthrough when it inked back-to-back agreements with Australian and England counterparts to teach their module to interested people and issue certificates on their behalf.

“This is a big success and will yield fruitful results in the days to come,” SMAP President Dr. Ucksy Mallick told Dawn on Sunday.

Dr. Ucksy, who is executive committee member of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM), said the step to acquire foreign certification at home under guidance of experts will be much cheaper as compared to foreign travel and attract those who are willing to pursue sports medicine.

It is pertinent to mention that founded over three decades back in 1988-89 by Dr. Nishat Mallick, SMAP had successfully organised two regional conferences in the country, both at Karachi,

Dr. Nishat, who was an MQM parliamentarian, was also the president of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine. He died in 2002.
