ISLAMABAD: A Covid-19 patient died in the capital while 20 more tested positive on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, 2,104 tests were conducted for detection of the virus among the citizens while on Monday the number of tests stood at 2,436.

With the passing away of the patient from G-9, the death toll in the capital increased to 172, said officials.

Out of the 20 new cases, six were reported from I-10, two each from G-10, F-10, and G-5 and one each from G-8, Loi Bher, G-9, G-6, F-6, E-11, I-11 and E-8.

The tally of the positive cases rose to 15,281 since the outbreak while so far 207,700 patients have been conducted.

So far, 13,020 patients have recovered, the officials stated, adding the capital has 2,089 active cases.

Rawalpindi

Four patients tested positive, including a patient from outside the district, on Tuesday and one patient died of the disease.

However, no patient was discharged from hospital after recovery.

The 65-year-old resident of Gulistan-i-Shamal at Adiala Road was admitted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital on July 28 where she died on Tuesday.

After the arrival of new patients, the number of confirmed patients in Rawalpindi district increased to 6,582 while 278 people have died and 6,153 others discharged after recovery.

However, 175 suspected patients are waiting for their results from laboratories in four government run hospitals.

Total 151 confirmed patients are under treatment, including 109 patients in four government hospitals. Moreover, 42 patients are isolated in their homes.

The local administrations also keep 222 people on quarantine who had been close contacts of the confirmed patients.

Meanwhile, the district administration failed to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) after withdrawal of the lockdown.

Rawalpindi Traders Association Sharjeel Mir told Dawn that shopkeepers were adopting all safety measures and ensured social distancing.
