DERA MURAD JAMALI: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove has said that highways and bridges damaged by heavy rain and floods in Bolan and other areas of the province are being repaired.

Talking to newsmen during his visit to Dera Murad Jamali on Sunday, he said the government was making all out efforts to restore road link with Quetta and the rest of the country.

The minister said that heavy machinery had been sent to the flood-affected areas to repair the damaged highways and bridges as soon as possible.

He said alternative arrangements were being made to restore traffic as hundreds of vehicles had been stuck on highways because of flood.

Mr Langove said Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan would soon visit the flood-affected areas to review the damage caused by floods. “Natural calamity is a test from Allah and we have to meet the challenge with unity and courage,” he said.

The minister said the government would extend all possible help to each and every person affected by floods.

During a visit to his hometown Khaliqabad, Mr Langove said the construction of Panzai Dam in the Mangchar area would benefit people of the area, especially in the agriculture sector.

He said the Provincial Disaster Management Authority was fully prepared to deal with the situation arising out of monsoon rains.
