SHANGLA: A woman was shot dead allegedly by her in-laws over a domestic dispute in Alpuri tehsil here on Saturday, police said.

Alpuri SHO Mohammad Arif Khan told Dawn that the body of the woman was recovered from her house in Larai area of Machar, and was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Alpuri.

He said the police had lodged FIR under section 302 of PPC against the victim’s brother-in-laws on the complaint of her father.

The complainant stated in the FIR that his daughter’s life had been made miserable since she got married. He nominated two of her brother-in-laws for the murder.

Police later raided the house and arrested the accused.

PRIVATE SCHOOLS REOPENING: The Private Education Network, Shangla chapter, announced on Saturday to reopen all private schools across the district from August 15. The decision was taken during a meeting in Bisham.

PEN district president Dedarul Haq and general secretary Ziaur Rehman and schools principals from across the district were present.

Mr Haq on the occasion said the private schools had been facing financial problems as they could not pay salaries to teachers nor the rent of the buildings since their closure four months ago.

“The private educational institutions are the worst affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the teachers are not supported by the government,” he said.
