CHITTAGONG: Over 1,80,000 people of about 130 square miles area of the district have been affected by the floods caused by heavy rains during the last five days.
Aus crops of about 8,000 acres have been submerged; the Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong, who was accompanied by the SDO (North), yesterday [July 14] visited the affected areas of Hathazari, Fatikchari and Raozan thanas, told [agency] on return that overall flood situation in the district has slightly improved.
He added that heavy rains on Monday and yesterday afternoon had affected certain areas. He said that no report of loss of life or cattle had been received from anywhere. …
