QUETTA: Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt Gen Mohammad Afzal has said that the capacity of hospitals in Balochistan has been enhanced to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic and the government is utilising all available resources to improve the health sector in the province.

The NDMA chief shared these views during a visit to the Fatima Jinnah Chest and General Hospital and the Bolan Medical Complex here on Tuesday.

“The coronavirus outbreak has been timely controlled by the efforts made by the federal and the provincial governments. Doctors, paramedical staff and officials of relevant agencies are playing the role of front line soldiers in the fight against the pandemic,” he said.

Lt Gen Afzal expressed the hope that the people would follow the standard operating procedures the government had issued for Eidul Azha.

Talking about locust attacks in the country, he said that all possible steps were being taken to deal with the challenge. He said that operations against locusts were continuing in all affected areas of the country, including Balochistan. He reviewed the arrangements made for providing treatment to coronavirus patients at the Fatima Jinnah Chest and General Hospital and the Bolan Medical Complex, and appreciated the efforts made by the provincial government in this regard.
