KOHAT: The Hangu police claimed on Monday to have arrested the alleged killer of religious scholar Mufti Mohibullah, whose murder had caused protests across the district.

City police station SHO Shah Doran said four accomplices of the killer had also been arrested.

He said district police officer Shahid Khan had formed an investigation team to resolve the murder which had resulted in unrest in religious and public circles.

The investigation team interrogated the eyewitnesses and family members of the religious scholar, and reached a stepbrother of the slain named Qudratullah, who during interrogations, admitted that he along with four accomplices had killed Mufti Mohibullah over a property dispute.

Meanwhile, the Hangu police spokesperson said a drug peddler and 15 criminals were arrested and seven kilogrammes of hashish, eight Kalashnikovs, four shotguns and 2,000 cartridges recovered from them.

UPGRADATION OF GRID STATIONS: MNA Malik Jawad Hussain has inaugurated work upgradation of grid stations of Kalaya and Ghiljo subdivisions of Orakzai tribal district, which will cost Rs1.98 billion.

A statement issued here said the lawmaker visited the Kalaya and Giljo the other day and inaugurated upgradation of grid stations from 66KV to 132KV.

The upgradation of Kalaya grid in lower Orakzai would cost Rs98 million, and that of Ghiljo in upper Orakzai Rs1 billion.

He said nine new feeders would also be installed in Kalaya grid station.

The MNA said work was in progress on Ghiljo grid station and Wapda House in tehsil Ismail Khel of upper Orakzai.

He said his main concerns were Mamozai and Ali Khel areas in upper Orakzai which borne the brunt during the war on terror.

He also visited the destroyed bazaar of Ghiljo and the under-construction building of the press club in upper Orakzai and listened to the complaints of the business community.

LAID TO REST: An FC official, who was killed by lightning while on duty in DI Khan, was laid to rest in his native Boraka area of Shahpur union council of Kohat on Monday.

A smartly-turned out contingent of FC jawans gave him last salute after the funeral prayers.

Floral wreaths were also laid on his grave and coffin.

The funeral of Said Rehman was attended by a large number of locals and FC officials. Also in the day, the Kohat tehsil municipal administration conducted disinfection spray in the imambargahs and a village in Banagsh belt on the Hangu Road on Monday.

The local people had requested TMO Mohammad Shoeb to spray the areas. Several mosques and hujars were also sprayed in the tribal subdivision of Darra Adamkhel.
