BAJAUR: Unidentified assailants shot dead a man in Salarzai tehsil of the Bajaur tribal district, officials and residents said on Saturday.

They said the incident took place in Dandoki area late on Friday evening when unknown persons opened fire on a local resident.

They said that Fazal Manan, 32, was standing near his house when he was attacked by the gunmen whose number could not be confirmed.

The residents said that the victim was critically wounded and died while being shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Khar.

The villagers said they tried to catch hold of the attackers, but due to the darkness they managed to flee.

The cause of the incident could not be ascertained immediately.

However, according to the residents, the deceased had no personal enmity in the area.
