CHARSADDA: Two children sustained bullet injuries when officials of Sardaryab police post opened fire on a moving car after the driver ignored the signal to stop and tried to escape towards Peshawar here on Monday.

Sources said the firing caused injuries to two children who were passing by the area. They were identified as Mudassar and Naeem. The car driver managed to escape from the spot.

The locals shifted the injured children to the district headquarters hospital, Charsadda.

District police officer Mohammad Shoaib ordered immediate suspension of the entire staff of Sardaryab police post and directed them to report to the police lines.

He also ordered a departmental inquiry against them.

DIG Mardan Sher Akbar Khan accompanied by DPO Shoaib and other senior officers visited the area and inspected the spot.

Meanwhile, a newly-married man committed suicide allegedly over domestic issues in Kharki area of Shabqadar tehsil.

The victim, 24, had got married two months ago. The Battagram police registered a case.

Also in the day, a woman was shot dead allegedly by her brother-in-law in Sokhta area of Shabqadar.

The victim had got married to her cousin six months ago. Her husband is stated to be abroad. The motive behind the killing could not be known.
