CHAGAI: Students and members of some political parties held demonstrations in Dalbandin and Nushki on Thursday to condemn the arrest of some protesting students in Quetta on Wednesday.

They criticised the provincial government and police for misbehaving with female students outside the provincial assembly where they were staging a sit-in against the Higher Education Commission’s decision of conducting online classes despite lack of internet and other facilities in Balochistan.

A demonstration was held by members of the Baloch Students Organisation-Pajjar outside the Dalbandin Press Club during which protesters chanted slogans against the provincial government and the police.

A similar protest was organised in Nushki by students and members of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl and the National Party.

The protesters were holding placards inscribed with slogans against the provincial government and the Quetta Police for detaining protesting students who were demanding facilities for online classes.

They called for restoration of internet services in some deprived districts of the province. They also demanded disciplinary action against those police officials who arrested peaceful protesting students.
