LAHORE, Sept 12: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to launch a fast bowlers’ talent hunt scheme in collaboration with an international beverage company on Monday. A committee of experts will hold open trials in ten different cities from Sept 20 to Oct 14. Three fast bowlers from each city will be picked for the final trials to be held at the Qadhafi Stadium on Oct 16 and 17.
Top six will be picked and will be called in the national training camp being set up for the England series.
The talent hunt scheme will start from Bugti Stadium, Quetta with trials there on Sept 20.
The trials will also be conducted in Peshawar on Sept 21 and 22, Abbottabad (Sept 23), Faisalabad (Sept 26 and 27), Sialkot (Sept 29 and 30), Multan (Oct 1 and 2), Hyderabad (Oct 3 and 4), Karachi (Oct 6 and 8), Rawalpindi (Oct 10 and 11) and Lahore (Oct 13 and 14).
Speaking at the ceremony in which the scheme was unveiled, PCB chairman Shaharyar M. Khan said the scheme would provide opportunity to all those who couldn’t get a chance to play in first-class cricket.
Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq, who also attended the ceremony, hailed the idea and termed it a great opportunity for those who hardly get a chance to play first-class cricket.
