KARACHI, Jan 18: Chairman Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Raja Zafarul Haq, on Friday strongly condemned the decisions taken by the government of adopting the joint electoral system and imposing condition of graduation for contesting elections.

He said saying it would not only shake the ideological base of Pakistan but would harm the interest of the minorities as well.

Addressing a workers convention at the Karachi Press Club, the former federal minister said that amendments in the constitution would be an irreparable loss to the country and the nation would suffer for years owing to these decisions.

He said that Pakistan was created in the name of Islam but unfortunately the present government was proving it wrong by its policies.

He called upon party workers to forge unity among their ranks.

Terming the present government unconstitutional, he held that it had no right to seek amendments in the constitution. Adoption of the joint electoral system would be a shock to the minorities and they would soon come to realize its repercussions.

Mian Ejaz Shafee, Vice-chairman PML, addressing the party workers, said that the decisions of the present government would ruin the country.

Among others who spoke on the occasion were former foreign secretary Akram Zaki, Tahmina Daultana, Mushahidullah and Siddique Al Farooq.— PPI
