OKARA: Most parts of the city have been facing disruption in gas supply from 10pm to 6am daily for quite some time.

Many people have complained about the apathy of the department concerned for failing to rectify the situation.

A retired local government official, Malik Muhammad Amin, told Dawn that he was a resident of the Model Cooperative Housing Society where the gas problem had been going on and the officials of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited were not responding properly.

SNGPL local office in-charge Arshad Ali claimed that there was no shortage of gas and the creaky pipelines had been replaced.

He said as the gas use minimised after 10pm daily, the gas supply lines are shut to maintain the pressure for the next day in many parts of the district.

DROWN: Two minor brothers drowned in a distributary here on Friday.

Rizwan and Irfan, sons of Javed Iqbal, drowned while bathing in the village distributary. Locals fished out the bodies.
