LAKKI MARWAT: The tehsil municipal administration, Lakki Marwat, allotted plots to 51 pushcart vendors in the model bazaar in Lakki city through an open draw on Thursday.

The bazaar located in the urban locality was inaugurated last month as part of the district administration’s efforts to curb encroachments and provide pushcart vendors sufficient space for running their businesses.

The idea to establish a model bazaar in Lakki city was implemented within three weeks to use a piece of land owned by the TMA and discourage roadside business activities.

Assistant commissioner Nadir Shahzad supervised the draw at his office in tehsil building wherein 51 pushcart vendors were declared successful. TMO Almar Khan, fruit and vegetable markets’ union president Asmatullah Khan were also present on the occasion.

The AC asked the vendors to start business activities on the allotted plots in the model bazaar within two days. “The carts owned by the successful vendors will be confiscated along with goods if found parked elsewhere in the urban locality for business purpose,” he warned.

He also inspected filling stations in parts of the district to check availability of petrol. He checked the fuel tanks with gauge instrument to determine the level of available stock of petrol in filling stations.

During the visit, the official learnt that petrol was available at the PSO filling stations.
