KHAR: The security forces on Thursday claimed to have arrested the head of an extortionist gang in Bajaur tribal district.

According to a statement issued by the Bajaur Scouts Headquarters here,the arrest was made in Mamond tehsil during an operation against anti-social elements by the Frontier Corps.

The extortionist was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The statement said the FC had launched the action against extortionists on a tip-off that some anti-social elements were involved in extorting money from the residents.

The statement said the FC launched a massive operation against extortionists.

It said the operation was meant to free the region from anti-social elements and would continue until the targets were achieved.

The residents hailed the arrest and hoped that the security forces would continue action for the elimination of extortion from the district.
