LAKKI MARWAT: Two persons were killed and one was injured when armed groups exchanged fire over a land dispute in Shahdikhel locality of Bettani tribal subdivision, police said on Sunday.

They said a contingent of police was sent to the rural area to control the situation and shift the bodies and injured to hospital.

Jat Khan from one group told police that he and his son, Kamal Khan were present outside their home when their rivals came and sprayed them with bullets. He said his son received multiple bullets and died on the spot, while he was wounded.

Police said they registered a case against Amin Khan, Zauta Khan, Rashid Khan, Hashim Khan, Ali Jan, and others.

Amjad Khan from the other side told police that he and his father, Hashim Khan were ambushed by their rivals when they were going home.

“Jat Khan ordered his sons, Shamal Khan and Akhtar Khan, to open fire as soon as they noticed us,” he maintained, saying his father was killed on the spot. Police have registered the case.

Separately, a bullet-riddled body was found near Samandar Titterkhel village of Darra Pezu town on Sunday. The deceased was named Shakil Ahmad, 27. Meanwhile, police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four drug traffickers in Naurang town.
