Prisoners wait to receive their Eid gifts at Attock Jail on Saturday. — Dawn

TAXILA: The Punjab Public Accounts Committee (PPAC) Chairman Syed Yawar Boukhari distributed Eid gifts including suits, sweets and other necessary items among the prisoners of Attock jail on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qammar, Assistant Commissioner Jannat Hussain Nekokara, District Jail Superintendent Sheikh Mohammad Ikram officials of prisons and social welfare department were also present on the occasion.

The PPAC chairman while talking on the occasion said that the purpose of distributing Eid gifts among the prisoners was to provide them opportunity to participate in the Eid celebrations.

He said that if one wants to lead a successful life, they must be patient.

“The path of goodness and benevolence should be adopted,” he added.

He asked the jail authorities to devise a proper mechanism, in collaboration with government and non-government organisations, to impart technical skill education to prisoner’s children along with basic education to make them useful citizens of society.
