RAWALPINDI: Four boys drowned in different incidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday, police and rescue sources said.

While taking bath in Bharwala Dam near Rawat, four boys drowned, rescue services said adding that three bodies were recovered while efforts were underway to recover the remaining one.

The rescue services said a team of divers was sent which recovered three bodies and shifted them to hospital.

The search operation for the remaining one will be started on Saturday morning.A boy drowned in a nullah in Margalla Phase II while another was rescued.

Khanna police SHO sub-inspector Mohammad Gulfaraz told Dawn that two boys, residents of Pona Faqiran came over to the nullah and started swimming. Both went into deep waters and lost control and started drowning there, he added.

Some onlookers spotted them and succeeded in rescuing one of them while the other boy drowned.

Efforts were made to locate him, but remained unsuccessful, the SHO said adding that, assistance was sought from Navy divers to search for the boy.
