CHITRAL: The district administration here has framed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for people coming to Chitral from other parts of the country after lifting of ban on public transport.

In a meeting chaired by Lower Chitral deputy commissioner Naveed Ahmed, it was decided that the joint screening centre of district administration, police and health department would continue to function at Lowari tunnel and send records of the passengers to the control room in the DC office.

Vigilance committees, including health officials, village secretary, local elites and representatives of police and Tiger Force, have been constituted at the village council level to ensure that the people arriving from other districts are quarantined in their homes.

According to the SOPs, the committee will obtain an undertaking from the people coming from other districts that they would comply with the safety measures.

The tehsil municipal administrations of Chitral and Drosh have been tasked with the duty of disinfecting vehicles.

Under the SOPs, entry of tourists or non-local people into the district has been banned. However, those having employment or business in Chitral will be exempted from such restrictions.
