ISLAMABAD, Sept 5: The government has decided to allow filing of export goods declaration (GD) through internet under the customs administration reform (CARE) for speedy loading of export consignments to ships. A senior customs official told Dawn on Monday that the project would be in operation by the second week of the current month at the Karachi International Container Terminal.
Under the project, the export consignments will be cleared for loading to a ship within two hours, reducing hassles of exporters.
Elaborating further, the official said that duty drawback cheques would be issued to the exporters after a few minutes of sailing of ships.
The official said the export consignments would be cleared on the basis of risk management system. He said the exporters would file their GD through internet and would get status notification through their mailing addresses.
According to the official, it would be a corruption- and hassle-free system, as there was no need for the exporters to physically visit the customs house.
