ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: The National Assembly on Friday condoled the death of some 1,000 Iraqis in stampede at the tomb of Imam Musa Kazim. Through a joint resolution tabled on behalf of the opposition and treasury benches by Muttahida Majilis-i-Amal deputy secretary-general Liaqat Baloch, the house expressed its sadness over the death of the Iraqis and prayed for them.
Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan sought approval of the house for suspension of rules to table the resolution. The resolution said: “This house expresses its grave concern and condoles the death of large number of Iraqis in the stampede, and expresses its solidarity with the people of Iraq in this tragedy.”—Staff Reporter
